Hi, I'm Sam​​​​

​​I'd like to share a little about myself. I teach people basic movement patterns that support them in their daily lives

 

Through A LOT of trial and error, I have been doing this since I qualified as a Personal Trainer in 2016

 

Movement doesn't have to be fancy or complicated. You don't have to lift 100kg or be able to do the splits (unless you want to!) ​

Movement can be about creating an easy-to-do mobility & strength routine in the morning that ensures your body moves well during the day

Or learning the right stretches and mobility exercises to avoid a backache after a long drive​

Why do I do this? I want to empower people to support their own bodies on the journey to...

My Story

I used to be very active when I was younger. I loved gymnastics, I was always on my bike and rollerskates having a lot of fun

But like many of us, I found myself in my 30s carrying weight that I wasn't happy or comfortable with. I drove a car so I wasn't as active and where I lived there were a lot of hills, and I avoided them. I didn't ride my bike anymore, I was scared of falling, I'd picked up some injuries so limited my activity levels, and I generally felt unfit and unhappy because I knew I could do more than my body was allowing me to do

I got sick of feeling this way and I wanted to change how I felt. I knew it would not be an easy journey, but I wanted to be strong and healthy​ again. I wanted to get that feeling I had when I was young and took my activities for granted. So I started going to the gym

But in the process, my body was giving me messages, and I wasn't listening.  I was getting too many injuries and too many flare-ups. Doing lots of squats, lunges, and push-ups wasn't what was needed at that point

What I needed was a better understanding of how I was moving and how I could move better without stressing myself out in the process. I learned that by focusing on my imbalances and limitations I could then do the strength and cardio exercises I wanted to

Along the way I qualified in the following:

  • Level 3 Personal Trainer

  • NASM Corrective Exercise Specialist

  • Level 3 Diploma in Exercise Referral

  • Advanced Sports and Exercise Nutritional Advisor

  • Barefoot Training Specialist® Level 1 Certification

  • SFG I StrongFirst Kettlebell Instructor

  • Life Coach

And this had led me to create a program called

START WHERE YOU ARE

My aim is for this course is to provide an easy-to-use, simple, and informative way for everyone to access better movement, without having to go through all the courses that I did. And to do so without creating too much stress on the body

I wanted to give people a way. A way to better understand their bodies and movement patterns that don't overwhelm, confuse, or create too much pressure. Something that anyone can follow

 

Better movement shouldn't be just for athletes. You don't have to be perfect to see huge benefits for you in your life, wherever you are
